Ever Heard Of Monkey Bubble Bread?

I read recently in Nigella Lawson’s most recent book, Kitchen, that when she came across the recipe for Grasshopper Pie, an American pie with a neon green filling, she just couldn’t resist making one.  Well I had a similar reaction when I first came across Monkey Bubble Bread, not only because the name is quirky but also because it look absolutely delicious!

My NYC Foodie Guide

Following on from my NYC report last week, I couldn’t move on with my life without telling you about the long list of places we visited during our stay. To be honest we didn’t eat out at as much during the evenings because we were so full from all the eating we did during the day.  The main eateries I recommend here are great little lunch and breakfast stops which are ideal with the amount of walking you’re likely to be doing. The Hungry Sumo New York Diet Washed Down By Some Blueberry Pancakes!

I think I am dealing with jetlag the same way I deal with manflu, which is essentially not very well.  As I write this I am in a catatonic state sprawled across my kitchen counter surrounded by a ridiculous amount of kitchenalia, which was accumulated on my visit to New York City last week.  A scene which is something similar to the result of a string of wild nights in but instead of empty glasses and a sticky floor I have a pile of heavy sparkly plates, an array of baking goodies which would make a clown wince, and various implements of torture and food preparation.

Roast Chicken with Lemon and Oregano and Ready for Spring!

January really is one of those months that my appetite doesn’t know what it wants.  One half of me wants something warm and comforting to hold off the the cold weather and the other half has had it up to here with rich stodgy winter food.  So trying to find the balance between the two is often difficult.  My solution has been to stick with the winter foods for now, but generally teaming them up with a light side salad, bulghur wheat packed with fresh flavours and spiky lemon dressings, which is so far working pretty well as a compromise.  This is all fine for now but I am so ready for some new foodie inspiration and thankfully spring is just around the corner, so things are most definitely looking up!  In fact we are busy getting the garden ready to plant some vegetables for year 3 of my kitchen garden project.  This year will by my year- I’m telling ya!  No spinach going to seed, no dead as a dodo carrots, no this year it’s going to be all change… I hope!
