If you missed my Top 8 Youtube Food Stars post a few weeks ago, you may not have seen my write up about The Chiappa Sisters.  This very talented team of ladies are sisters with a Italian-Welch background grew up with delicious Italian dishes being at the centre of every family occasion.  Their love of great food has led to a TV series, a fantastic youtube channel and an amazing new cookbook.  I met the Chiappa’s at Jamie Oliver’s Food Tube live show last summer and they are great fun with an infectious passion for cooking.

Following on from their Channel 4 series they’ve have just released their first cookbook, Simply Italian which features all the recipes from the show.  As well as agreeing to give me 3 copies of their new book to giveaway to three lucky readers the ladies agreed to share their Top 3 Italian Dishes with me.  To be in with a chance to win one of the cookbooks, leave me a comment below and let me know your favourite Italian inspired dish!  One entry per person and I will pick a winner next week- Good luck!  Check out a sneak peek of just three of the delicious recipes from the new book below. *Competition is now closed*

    Oh wow these dishes look delish!!!
    What I like most that is italian inspired is pasta with seafood, dried tomatoes, lemon and parsley. Of course I’m not italian and I make it in my own way, but I really love this dish and for me it is very italian inspired! I would really love to win a copy of the book of these lovely ladies!

    My momma loves everything Italian, so her home cooking is heavily inspired by her favorite country. My favorite dinner that she makes is Eggplant Involtini- thinly sliced eggplant rolls stuffed with ricotta, tomato sauce, and spiced ground beef or prosciutto. When left to my own devices, I like to make gnocchi with tomato sauce or brown butter and parmesan. My sister makes fresh pasta nearly every week, so I’m going to have to ask her to make some egg raviolo for me.

    I’m from northern Italy(South Tyrol, alpine region), and normally we are cooking a mix of german, austrian and italian dishes.
    For italian food my family (and i) loves “malfatti”.
    They are small things, like gnocchi, made of egg, spinach, ricotta, cheese and flour.
    We like it very much!

    For me it’s a vegetarian lasagna with wild mushrooms, aubergine, roasted peppers, spinach and ricotta cheese…yummy! 😉

    I’m still exploring the possibilities of Italian cuisine, but I must say that chocolate zabaglione is one of the most amazing desserts I’ve ever tried to make. And the way the Chiappa Sisters make it is basically foolproof. So… yeah, I like a lot of Italian dishes, but I think zabaglione is the best of them. (So far, at least :))

    I love Risotto. It could be simple like risotto bianco, veggie with lots of spring vegetables like peas, asparagus and broad beans or fishy with delicious seafood. I love all of them!

    I love how Italian food often uses only a few ingredients in their sauces keeping it simple, fresh and full of flavour. My favourite Italian dishes are home-made Lasagna (with fresh Bechamel sauce of course!) and I also adore Panna cotta, Yummy! :)

    I love all Italian food but my favourite has to be spaghetti vongole but I would be happy to eat any pasta dressed with lots of chilli, garlic and good olive oil, topped with crunchy breadcrumbs. I saw the girls on TV and it was a great programme.

    My favourite Italian recipe is Tuscan in origin and is strawberry risotto . It is DELICIOUS when strawberries are in season , made the usual way of risotto adding strawberries , parmesan at the end of cooking. Recipe taken from `Twelve` A Tuscan cook book by Tessa Kiros

    Fish Lasagne. I had it at an Italian wedding but it was the 7th course and I could only fit in one bite :(. It was so delicious I had dreams about eating it. But I am glad to report that the happy couple invited us for dinner after the wedding and cooked Fish Lasagne :). It became a family favourite after that :).

    I love making this dish with penne pasta. I add extra-virign olive oil, aged balsamic vinegar from Modea, parmesan cheese, a crushed garlic clove, creamed fresh spinach with crispy shallots and parma ham. It tastes divine!
